Description

A fun singing game that teaches sixteenth notes is always welcome in my music room. Love Somebody is a folk song and singing game that you can use to teach sixteenth notes, do mi so patterns, and more.

The Google Slides presentation teaches the song Love Somebody (with lyrics and sheet music), introduces sixteenth notes, teaches melodic patterns including do mi sol and mi re do, and has 3 different versions of the game (including an all digital version!).

Original game:

  • Everyone sits in a circle and sings the song.
  • One person thinks of another student's name.
  • At the end of the song, 3 students guess who the person is thinking of

Modified game:

  • Everyone sits in a circle with their eyes closed and sings the song.
  • One person drops an object (eraser, paper, etc) into the hands of someone in the circle
  • 3 students try to guess who has the object

Digital game:

  • Students sing the song
  • Students take turns guessing which box the heart is hiding under on the slides

Includes:

  • 40 slide Google Slides lesson
  • Printable sheet music
  • 3 singing game options (including a fully digital one)
  • Presentation of sixteenth notes
  • Melodic pattern practice on boomwhackers or xylophones
  • Everything in stick notation!
