Theme therapy is an evidence based strategy for teaching vocabulary and improving overall language skills in children. But it can be time consuming to find materials for themes, and it can be an additional time suck to prep a bunch of materials. This resource is LOW prep and perfect for SLPs who want to save time! This entire resource fits into a rainbow photo organizer from Michael’s. It’s low prep because you do have to print the pages and cut to fit into the boxes, but I recommend printing multiple copies of each sheet, so you have them on hand to grab and go. It is appropriate for your preschool and early elementary students. You can use one or more sheets during a session, in combination with a book or other related toy.
There are 16 different themes: pets, zoo, food, community places, community helpers, farm, clothing, transportation, fall, winter, spring, summer, ocean, space, school, and home. For each one, there are at least 24 sheets that fit into each task box. Labels for the boxes are included on pg. 6-9. I recommend laminating these and taping to the front of each box. A label for the outside of the box is on pg. 4.
I also included some book suggestions, YouTube video links (songs, educational videos), and other toys that pair perfectly with each theme. You may already have some of them!
