This product contains 26 lowercase
play dough letter mats and a page of extension and variation ideas. For your convenience this printable also contains step-by-step directions, a supply list, as well as indicating which developmental domain(s) and skills will be focused on. I even included a recipe for making your own play dough! Making this absolutely perfect for parents or teachers!
These letter mats were inspired by the wonderful Zoo-Phonics
literacy program that uses a kinesthetic approach to teaching the letters and sounds of the alphabet. I strongly encourage you to check out their website
, if you aren't familiar with it. Kids absolutely love it!
Another kid favorite activity is play dough time so I decided to create some Zoo-Phonics inspired letter mats that will open the door to incorporating letter recognition, counting and patterning into their play dough fun.
All you need to do is print the pages and slide them into sheet protectors (or laminate) and you're ready to go!
The animals include:
alligator, bear, cat, deer, elephant, fish, gorilla, horse, inchworm, jellyfish, kangaroo, lizard, mouse, night owl, octopus, penguin, quail, rabbit, snake, tiger, umbrella bird, vampire bat, weasel, fox (this is for letter x), yak, and zebra.
Which makes this a great set for those of you using a Letter of the Week Curriculum! It's also perfect for a zoo theme!
The activities target all four of these areas:
(working together, taking turns)
(math - counting, comparing, number sequence, recognizing patterns)
* Language & Literacy
(letter recognition & expressive language)
