Product Description
This is a two-page lesson plan with some great project possibilities. Covers several CCSS ELA for grades 6-8.

Project Possibilities:
Adrian’s Uncle Ian gives him A Guide to American Slang to help him assimilate to American culture. With this book as a guide, Adrian uses such idiomatic expressions as “ See you later, alligator,” “ Don’t take any wooden nickels,” “ pulling up stakes,” “ That’s the way the cookie crumbles,” and “ You are the cat’s pajamas.” Unfortunately, all of these phrases are dated. Pretend you are preparing an updated presentation for English Language Learner students like Adrian. Using the links below and other sources of slang and idioms, present them with expressions more useful for students new to America today—ones they can use in school and expect to hear on television. Your presentation can take the form of Google slides, a Prezi, a PowerPoint, or any other method you choose.
