Tried and True!

This review game is specifically made to be used for any subject area! It can be used time after time and students of all ages love it. I first made this game for my middle school students but quickly found my high school students were also begging to play it. If your students love Jeopardy, they will love Lucky Ducky!!!

What Is It?
Lucky Ducky is a power point game which links pictures of ducks to random numbers. The random numbers in the game “even the playing field” for all students playing. A correct answer may be worth 5,000 points or only 1 point!

How To Use It With A Study Guide:
1. I give students their study guide and instruct them to fill in the correct answers when they are given during the game.
2. The class is then divided into two even halves (or as even as they can be).
3. Assign two score keepers to keep track of points earned.
4. Call on the first student and have her choose a duck by saying its number. Example: “I want duck 5.”
5. Then BEFORE clicking on the duck, ask the student the first question on the study guide.
6. Once the student has answered, click duck number 5. If the student answered correctly the points are added to the score, if the answer was incorrect no points are given or lost, but duck number 5 is no longer in play.
7. Continue until all ducks have been chosen.

How To Use It With No Study Guide:
Note: Students will have to listen closely to verbal questions OR use your classroom boards to write problems they must solve.
1. Divide the class into two even halves (or as even as they can be).
2. Assign two score keepers to keep track of points earned.
3. Call on the first student and have her choose a duck by saying its number. Example: “I want duck 5.”
4. Then BEFORE clicking on the duck, ask the student the first question OR have student solve the first question on the board.
5. Once the student has answered, click duck number 5. If the student answered correctly the points are added to the score, if the answer was incorrect no points are given or lost, but duck number 5 is no longer in play.
6. Continue until all ducks have been chosen.

Benefits of Lucky Ducky:
1. All ages love it.
2. It can be used for any subject area.
3. The game keeps track of what has been chosen.
4. A really hard question could be worth 1 point and the easiest question worth 5,000 points. This encourages struggling students to be actively involved in the review process.
5. You do not have to keep changing questions and answers like a Jeopardy power point
