A Missing Addend Game
This is a game to help children learn to determine the missing addend in an equation that equals 10. Each child will have a game board, 10 unifix cubes snapped together, and 10 markers. Markers can be unifix cubes, stackers, St. Patrick’s Day erasers, or any other kind of marker. Children will take turns drawing an equation card. They will use their unifix cubes to find the missing addend by taking away the amount of the given addend. They will then find the number for the missing addend on their board and cover it. If the number is already covered, they miss a turn. If they draw a four leaf clover or a pot of gold, they get to draw 2 more cards. If they draw the tricky leprechaun, they lose a turn. The first child to cover their board wins, or the child with the most pots of gold covered when you call time.
