This is a Lucky Leprechaun Activity I created to go along with creative writing.
Before we started, we reviewed what makes a good paragraph: topic sentence, supporting details, concluding summary sentence.
Then we talked about our blessings...in other words, why we are lucky!
I had the students write their rough draft paragraph, edit, switch with a partner and edit each others, and then finally write (neatest handwriting) on the hat.
They color their hat green, their beard orangish-brown and then glue on a paper plate that was created to look like their own face (Glasses, eye color, braces, freckles, etc).
Included in this are the letters I used for the bulletin board heading: Lucky Leprechauns (shamrock backgrounds). I actually printed on green construction paper and had students who finished early cut out the letters. It worked well.
