Celebrate Lunar New Year with lucky red envelopes which is a tradition in Chinese and Vietnamese cultures.

Note: These are updated yearly with the Zodiac animal. Now updated for 2022: The Year of the Tiger!

What's included?

  • Background information on red envelopes
  • 8 Red envelope choices in color and B&W: Dragon, Year of the Tiger (2 versions: one cutesy, one more realistic), Vietnamese kids (English and Vietnamese), Chinese kids (English, Cantonese, and Mandarin), and design your own envelope
  • 6 Good Wish template notes to write well wishes to friends and family in color and B&W (lined and unlined)
  • Fortune strips in red and black fonts: students can copy the wishes onto their notes or cut out the strips and put them in envelopes. Wishes come in English, Vietnamese, and Chinese.

Directions: Print envelopes on red construction paper or red astrobrights paper. Cut alongside outside lines. Fold on lines. Younger children may need help with folding the lines. Put glue where it says "glue". Fold back side over glue tabs. Instead of adding money to the envelopes, encourage students to write New Years Wishes. Put the notes inside the red envelopes and pass them out to friends and family for the new year!
