Product Description
Lyme disease is the fastest growing disease in the United States with more than 300,000 people being diagnosed annually. If treated quickly, after a tick bite, Lyme is easy to treat. But, the longer a person waits for treatment, the more difficult it is to treat and can even become chronic. It is important we teach children about Lyme disease so they can quickly recognize if they have Lyme and seek treatment. This CCSS and VA SOL aligned product includes:
- A close reading passage describing what Lyme disease is, signs and symptoms of the disease, and how to treat. Paragraph numbers are included so that the passage resembles what students will see on a standardized test.
- 10 comprehension incorporating main idea and supporting details, making inferences, context clues, and cause and effect. Comprehension questions are multiple choice and also resemble standardized test questions. An answer key is included.
- A pre-test for students to assess how much they know about Lyme disease. An answer key is included with an explanation to go with each question, providing talking points about Lyme.
