You've seen "tons" of them on Youtube. Some good, some bad, but nevertheless tributes in most cases to great performers or rock acts. I'm speaking of LYRIC VIDEOS that people post on Youtube to share with the virtual world. They're very popular and fairly simple to create.

The lyric video project has been a perennial favorite with my former students because they get to use their favorite (appropriate) song.

Here are some of the basics.

  • use Power Point
  • create approximately 30 slides relating to the theme of the song or about the artist(s)
  • insert song into Power Point
  • type words of song onto the different slides. NOTE: It's important to have the lyrics (words) match the singing
  • once this has been done, you must convert the Power Point to video. (See page two of the download)
  • Note: more detailed info on the "down-load sheet."

This is approximately a two weeks long activity (maybe shorter for high school students).

Compare and contrast the information gained from experiments, simulations, video, or multimedia sources with that gained from reading a text on the same topic.
Distinguish among facts, reasoned judgment based on research findings, and speculation in a text.
Integrate quantitative or technical information expressed in words in a text with a version of that information expressed visually (e.g., in a flowchart, diagram, model, graph, or table).
Acquire and use accurately a range of general academic and domain-specific words and phrases sufficient for reading, writing, speaking, and listening at the college and career readiness level; demonstrate independence in gathering vocabulary knowledge when encountering an unknown term important to comprehension or expression.
Apply knowledge of language to understand how language functions in different contexts, to make effective choices for meaning or style, and to comprehend more fully when reading or listening.
