Macromolecules structure and function (Proteins, Lipids, and Carbohydrates) can be a complicated topic to teach! I have created a mini unit that can be used if 1. Time is of the essence or 2. You need help making macromolecules interesting and fun!
This unit package is designed to fit the new ACOS standards as well as assist in the practices of NGSS such as, asking questions and defining problems, developing and using models, planning and carrying out investigations, analyzing and interpreting data, computational thinking, constructing explanations and designing solutions, engaging in argument from evidence and obtaining, evaluating and communicating information.
This unit package should be used as an introduction to macromolecules or to teach macromolecules in its entirety. This unit allows for teachers to become facilitators and their students to be leaders of their own learning. Students are able to learn through a process of research, hands-on activities, and creating and planning their own investigation! The unit is also set up on a Strategic Teaching schedule of Before, During and After activities and assignments. Teacher page included, thoroughly explains how it can be arranged day by day, but is totally optional!
