Children love the idea of rolling the dice to determine their number line fate!
Once children understand how to construct a number line, they can better answer questions about the number line. This activity forces children to spatially break the number line into the equal pieces depending on what they roll on the dice. (this could also be used with flipping playing cards out of a deck of cards)
The categories at the top allow you to check easily and also gives them the freedom to choose their own spot to label.
COLLABORATIVE LEARNING PIECE: students could create the number line and label the point, then exchange papers with a partner for their partner to name the fraction represented.
