Product Description
This file includes 30 writing prompts to use during the month of March. The prompts are Common Core-aligned and include a variety of topics which facilitate opinion, informative/explanatory, and narrative writing.

The prompts come in two formats: task cards and posters similar in design to the cover page. You can choose to use one or the other, or a combination of both. I display the posters with my projector and instruct my students to respond to the questions independently. I use the remaining task cards for my writing station.

This file also includes March binder/booklet covers as well as lined response paper - both in color and black and white. To create writing notebooks for your students, make as many copies of the lined response paper as necessary and staple these pages into packets or hole punch the pages and insert them into binders.

Common Core English/Language Arts (Reading) Writing standards aligned with this product:

**Please note: These are fourth grade standards because I teach fourth grade, but other grades' standards could easily be incorporated. Each prompt facilitates either opinion, informative/explanatory, or narrative writing.

CCSS.ELA-Literacy.W.4.10: Write routinely over extended time frames (time for research, reflection, and revision) and shorter time frames (a single sitting or a day or two) for a range of discipline-specific tasks, purposes, and audiences.

CCSS.ELA-Literacy.W.4.1: Write opinion pieces on topics or texts, supporting a point of view with reasons and information.

CCSS.ELA-Literacy.W.4.2: Write informative/explanatory texts to examine a topic and convey ideas and information clearly.

CCSS.ELA-Literacy.W.4.3: Write narratives to develop real or imagined experiences or events using effective technique, descriptive details, and clear event sequences.
