This fun M.A.S.H. activity will take you back to middle/high school. Remember playing to figure out who you would marry (a boy band crush, perhaps?), where you would live, number of kids, etc.
Don't remember how to play? No problem! Visit this link
for more detailed instructions.
This is a growing activity packet. Additional articulation targets will be continuously added. Please feel free to leave suggestions regarding desired targeted phonemes!
ߋ Targets phonemes “j”, /l/, /s/, /z/, /r/, ”ch”, “sh”, “th”, r-blends, l-blends, and s-blends.
ߋ Each worksheet is black and white for easy, no prep printing.
ߋ Numerous opportunities provided for repetition and drill of sounds.
ߋ To begin, distribute a worksheet to each student. Pick a worksheet that targets the student’s specific speech goals.
ߋ Select a student who will go first. The rest of the students who are not yet playing can either draw a picture of one of the animals on their list on the back of their paper, or the students (if they can read) can go through each word on each list to continue targeting phonemes.
ߋ The student who is selected to go first must supply the clinician with a “magic number”. This is any number 1-10. Once the student chooses a number, the clinician or student may write the number in the “magic number” space on the worksheet.
ߋ At that point, the clinician (or the student once you teach him/her how to play the game) starts with the animal list and counts to the student’s magic number. Once the number is reached, the clinician would cross out the specific item on the given list. ߋ Continue this until there is only one option left on each list.
ߋ Don’t forget to cross out the M.A.S.H. options as well until there is only one option left.
ߋ Crossing out should be done either horizontally or vertically across categories.
ߋ Once there is only one option left in each list, the student would complete the paragraph below by writing in the choice left in each list in the correct spot. View the cheat sheet for extra support.
Please view the video for more detailed instructions.
Reminder: The M stands for Mansion, A for Apartment, S for Shack, and H for house.
Important: There are some unfamiliar vocabulary words in this activity. This is on purpose. Use this opportunity to look up unfamiliar words and discuss them. Introduce the students to new things. Teach them.
Please remember to provide feedback about this activity. Leaving feedback will earn you credit toward future TpT purchases.
