MATH CENTER: Egg Equations
is a math center for students in grades K - 3. As expected in the CCSS, students will practice basic math facts to achieve mastery.
Gather plastic eggs (such as those available at Easter) and fill them with the components for the equations. Students will select an egg, assemble the contents into a true equation, and preserve their work on the recording sheet. This task can be repeated as many times as is appropriate to the age and stage of the students.
Accommodations for students working above or below grade level are inherent in this center. The teacher can readily meet each student's needs by including equations from another grade level.
is holiday neutral. The only nod to Easter is the use of the plastic eggs. You can include this center in a thematic unit about farms as easily as a spring study.
