The centers are designed to introduce students to some of the math manipulatives that they will be using through the school year such as math cubes, geometric pattern blocks, rulers, base-ten blocks, and play money.
The concepts covered in the 5 centers are:
- STATION 1: Finding two or more ways to break up a number into smaller, equal groups (foundations for multiplication and division)
- STATION 2: Measuring every day objects with a ruler.
- STATION 3: Creating designs using geometric pattern blocks, and identifying the geometric shapes used in their design.
- STATION 4: Place value - building numbers with base-ten blockscomparing
- STATION 5: Money (and creating the value with play money)
