This escape room activity is an exciting and engaging way to review or practice various math concepts either when returning back to school, at the end of the year, between units, or as a fun activity for any day of the week!
As a team of detectives, you have been hired to uncover secrets in the office of a mad scientist. Upon entering the office you soon find yourself trapped inside! You notice various math related materials laying around the room and an old dusty computer waiting for a code that will help you escape. Can you and your friends use your math skills to decode the puzzles and discover the secret code that is vital to your escape?
This bundle contains five work stations with various puzzles students must decode and work through to escape the room. This escape room is designed to last one full class period. The math required to solve the puzzles is appropriate for both upper middle and lower high school levelled students; however the complexity of decoding the escape room is designed to challenge and engage students in the math classroom.
Math topics covered in this lesson include:
• Geometry: Area and Pythagorean Theorem
• Number Operations: including basic understanding of exponents (knowledge of exponent laws not needed)
• Number Sequences: Full understanding not required but helpful
• Basic Algebra
Simply print and and cut out the materials, and you are ready to set up your escape room. The only additional materials needed to complete this activity is student access to a computer (only one computer needed for the entire class). The computer component is not vital to the activity; however it does add an extra bit of excitement for students when completing the escape room activities.
Note: computer must be able to access Microsoft excel.
