What is included:
This resource includes 16 sets of inequality matching cards, an answer key, and four different options for worksheets that can be used for remediation, as a student answer sheet, or homework.
How to use:
MATH Four is a take on the classic card game spoons.
Spoons, one fewer than there are players
(Other objects can be used, but should not have a point i.e. forks, pens, and pencils.)
3 to 6 players
One standard deck of Math Four cards (64 cards)
This game can be differentiated by cutting the deck in half or only requiring students to match 3 cards instead of 4. Students can also each start with a word problem and are asked to find the graph and inequalities that match their word problem.
Arrange the spoons in a small circle in the center of the table. Each player gets dealt four cards. Every player is trying to match four of a kind in their hands. The remaining cards sit to the right of the dealer. The dealer picks a card off the top of the pile to have 5 cards in his hand, removes one and passes it facedown to the left. Each player draws cards, one at a time, from their right and discards facedown on their left. The last player places his discard in a trash pile. Cards are picked up and passed quickly around the table until someone gets four of a kind and takes a spoon. Once the player with four of a kind takes a spoon, anyone can take a spoon. The player left without a spoon get a letter. If the person who gets four of a kind is incorrect, they receive the letter. If at any time the draw cards run out, the dealer will reshuffle the trash pile and keep going.
The winner is the last player remaining. Players get closer to elimination each time they do not get a spoon and take a letter to spell the word M – A – T – H. Spell the word and you are out.
