This is a 28-slide PowerPoint presentation I use after my PowerPoint titled, "Place Value Basics: Whole Numbers" to my 5th-grade students. The PowerPoint includes instruction on expanded form through place value (50 + 6); through expanded notation ([5 x 10] + [6 x 1]); and through expanded notation with exponents ([5 x 10^1] + [6 x 10^0]). There are examples and independent practice (with answer keys) for each concept. It also includes a "Pop Quiz" (with answers) at the end to cover all concepts. The presentation also includes introductory slides on what exponents are, how to read them, and how to find their values.
I am also working on a few other PowerPoint place value presentations that I will post in upcoming weeks:
1) Place Value with Decimals (with expanding all 3 ways included)
2) Place Value Conversions (i.e., 30 tens = ___ thousands)
I will also be putting together some bundles of worksheets and tests along the way, so follow me!
