These ME Sentence Starters are a simple way to get your children “drawing/writing” with an easy theme that most have sufficient background knowledge to be successful – themselves! I use these instead of the traditional “About Me” booklet because it is more flexible. Rather than just fill in blanks, children can make choices about what they want to share. A great resource for the beginning of the year to help you get to know your children! There are 13 Sentence Starters in 3 different fonts.
You may or want to model the sentence starter or have children work “from scratch.” Either way these sentence starters lead children to their own unique work.
I usually do one sentence starter a day. Combine some or all sentence starters in a booklet. If you choose this option, there are 4 cover pages - take your pick!. If you are making a booklet, choose the pages with the wider left margin. This is a great introduction to a “4 Square” Graphic Organizer Template.
If children are making personal anchor charts, choose pages with small margins to to maximize drawing space.
All templates are provided in 3 different fonts to suit your style or need- a chunky font, a simple primary font, and a bubble font where children can color in the letters.
Need to differentiate? Encourage writers/readers to add labels or sentences to their drawings.
