In the early primary grades, children start to learn about the concept of time and how things can change over a long period of time. This worksheet is meant to be used in the following way:
1) Each month the student will complete these tasks: drawing a self portrait, writing their name, recording their height and weight and age, and answering some typical questions about themselves
2) At the end of the year compile all of the student's Me, Monthly sheets and create a book, using the second page as the cover
3) Ask them to make observations about what has changed about them over the school year. For example:
-how many inches they have grown
-if their handwriting has improved
-how their artistic skills have changed
-if what they want to be has varied
-if they noticed as they got taller they probably added weight, too
The paper could easily be adapted if you wanted to add a back side to the Me, Monthly sheet. Sometimes educators have children illustrate a deciduous tree through out the year to also depict change over the year... easy! Just have them do this activity on the back!
