I am so excited to offer the SECOND EDITION of the Mentor Text Club to upper elementary teachers who love to use newer-released picture books as mentor texts in their classroom (or are looking to start)!

Just like in the FIRST EDITION of the Mentor Text Club, you will receive a weeklong mentor text unit once a month for the 2021-2022 school year (August 2021-June 2022)! Plus, there will be an exclusive bonus lesson (coming soon!) that will only be available to club members! That's 12 weeks of COMPLETE lessons that you will be able to use again year after year!

As a member, YOU get to help make decisions about the books and skills taught!

For this reason, I don't have a list of books that will be used for the year because members will vote... but all of the books will be high quality newer-released picture books (within the last two years and potentially books released moving forward in the next year). I can tell you they will all be picture books, with a mix of fiction and nonfiction. :)

You will also have the opportunity to WIN the book used each month as a member of the club!

Once you purchase the club, there is a file in your downloads that explains the important information to get the club perks. To solely ensure that only club members get access, everything will be done through email. This ensures everyone receives the club perks each month!

So yes, you read that right! That means we will be working right alongside each other all year!

Not only are you getting the lessons at a steep discount by purchasing the club rather than each individual unit, you are going to get exclusive opportunities like:

⭐️giveaways of the books used for the lessons ONLY available to club members

⭐️surveys to provide input on what books and skills you’d like to see incorporated

⭐️immediate email notifications when each new unit is available

⭐️plus, a bonus lesson (coming soon) that won’t be available anywhere else!

    This is not a membership.

You pay for the club one time, and the 12 units you will receive over the course of the year will remain in your purchases. Once the 2021-2022 school year (August 2021-June 2022) is over, there will not be additional units added or any additional fees for the year's club. If I decide to continue doing a club for the 2022-2023 school year, it will be a brand new purchase, with brand new downloads.

Every unit in the club will have:

    • a week of plans that integrate multiple skills and subjects
    • detailed explicit lessons, including teacher samples
    • a week-at-a-glance plan
    • digitally converted activities in Google Slides and Forms, when applicable
    • mentor sentence lesson
    • reading and writing lessons
    • integration of other subjects (science, social studies, or social/emotional skills)
    • printables for skill practice
    • at least one other text (poem, article, paired passages)* to integrate with your lessons *this will vary each unit depending on skills covered!
    • short assessments

(The mentor text books are NOT included. If you don't own a copy of the book, and can't purchase it, check your local library or you might even find an online read-aloud of the text with a simple Google search!)

By the end of the school year, you’ll have 12 weeks of COMPLETE lessons that you will be able to use again year after year!

You will notice that the units align in best practices with my other resources, so if you are already using other components like Mentor Sentences, Better Than Basal, or Everything But The Books, they can easily be incorporated into your plans without breaking stride.

These sets do NOT use any of the books or articles previously used in other resources!

    • A teacher who uses Jivey's mentor sentences and mentor text resources, and would like to change it up with some new books
    • An educator who is looking for detailed lesson plans to guide their use of mentor texts across content
    • Someone who wants to incorporate picture books monthly with other required curricula
    • A bookaholic who loves all things picture books

Using mentor texts is one of the best ways to maximize your teaching time. You are able to teach multiple skills, subjects, and topics with just one book!

Because I don’t know them yet! As mentioned above, part of the uniqueness of the club is that the MEMBERS get to help choose the books and skills each month! We will be working together all year, and I can't WAIT to have teacher input for each unit! I can tell you they will all be picture books, with a mix of fiction and nonfiction. :)

My Mentor Sentences and Better Than Basal resources do not provide explicit sequenced weekly lesson plans. This is so that you can move in and out of each unit as you need and go in any order you'd like. The units in the club are just like my Everything But The Books resources with explicit lesson plans, and should be taught in the order presented in the unit.

Please remember, this purchase is for the use of one teacher. It is not intended to be shared. Please use the 'additional license' purchase if more than one teacher will be using it. Thank you!

*The mentor sentence lessons I have created are adapted from the ideas of Jeff Anderson. These lessons were born from the routine that worked well in my classroom, and the demos and examples I present are variations of Jeff Anderson's methods. This is not the only way to "do" mentor sentences in your classroom.*
