Mesopotamia was known as the Land between Two Rivers. It left many legacies such as the wheel, a writing system, and irrigation. Perhaps is most important legacy was in law. Hammurabi, the king of Babylon in the eighteenth century B.C., was the first to record the laws and their consequences. This packet will allow students to research and participate in some higher end thinking activities in order to learn more about Hammurabi’s contributions.
Page 1 – An Internet Assignment which will allow students to acquire basic knowledge and ask questions about his contributions.
Page 2 – An activity in which students compare Hammurabi to laws we have today.
Page 3 – An activity in which they analyze the stated consequences of complying or not complying with the law.
