Product Description
To begin the worksheet asks students to interpret what the photograph accompanying the metaphor "The wind is a lion" is likely to mean. Then the definition of a metaphor is provided. Three examples of metaphors follow. With these, students must state how the comparisons are alike. At the bottom of the page students are given eight sentences containing metaphors. They are directed to circle the two things that are being compared in each one. Most standardized language arts tests have a figurative language section, so this worksheet on metaphors will support student preparation for test questions on them. An answer key is included. (The lion photograph is actually in color, but shows up in black-and-white on my tiff.)
