Instead of subjecting students to a silent day of self-reflection, consider putting a little pizzazz in their revision by hosting these narrative revision stations!
These stations cover some of the crafts middle schoolers can always use extra support with, including
*adding more show-don't-tell through sensory language
*pumping up setting (supplement with some of your favorite student or published author examples!)
* focusing on figurative language (simile, metaphor, hyperbole)
* ensuring clarity and power by double checking the presence of all story structure elements
* editing for end punctuation
My students LOVE revision stations! It's a great time for individuals or quiet partners to reflect on the quality of their work, reinforce what they know, see great examples in action, challenge themselves to improve, and ensure they are publishing a finished piece they will be proud to call their own.
Stay tuned for my information revision stations, customized to crafts aligned with information standards!
