This PDF is a handout to help students navigate MLA in-text citations. The handout provides a link to a video that I created covering the topic.
The video is about 15 minutes long and it covers what plagiarism is, what MLA stands for, and what is required for in-text citations. I go over both book sources as well as online sources. The students will hear about both direct quotes and paraphrasing. The video explains where the author's name and page number need to be placed as well as how to punctuate the citation.
The handout follows the video. There are a few blanks included on the worksheet to make it a guided note experience. Students will need to follow the video to fill in the notes.
I have found this lesson to be effective in my classroom. The students like the fact that the video link is provided on the handout so they can always go back and watch the video to help as they navigate their research.
