This is a sample essay I cooked up for my students to use as a guide for MLA format. It demonstrates the correct format for headers, title, in-text citations, and works cited page. It's also a bit fun to read! It describes the characteristics of the "Cranky Teacher" and advises students of methods to avoid its wrath. In practice, I go over this essay with students when they do their first MLA format paper with me, and I post it on my class website so that they can revisit it for reference at any time. -- Robin Ward
