PRODUCT DESCRIPTION

A snapshot of the differences between Malcolm X & Martin Luther King, Jr; this brief writing assessment asks students to compare the two Civil Rights leaders and place their respective quotes in context. Presumably, students would have some background on both figures that they could incorporate into the response but, if not, it can be used as a stand-alone assessment of writing.

I always found these types of assessments as a good essay for tests to assess writing ability or as a quick assessment of writing ability. Additionally, it is a nice check along the way if students are grasping the philosophies of King and Malcolm X Developing a rubric or using one to evaluate the responses may be useful.
