This activity is designed to be used with M&M candies. The students first count and record the amounts of each of the colors, then create a bar graph displaying the data. After that, they write fractions for each color, then name 3 equivalent fractions to each of their named fractions. The second page asks them to explain how they found their denominator, how they found equivlent fractions, then it asks them to draw a model of two of their equivalent fractions, add fractions, and sort their fractions into columns based on <1/2, =1/2, and >1/2. It's a lot of fun!
