Are you interested in a user-friendly United Nations simulation which involves a controversial issue, whereby students might easily discern their country's opinion. This product is a very comprehensive, yet very “user friendly” "Model UN Background Paper" researched and written by me in 2011. It is best used in an Intro to Model UN for new delegates in a Model UN organization. However, it can be used in a class which might spend 4-5 days on the United Nations. If you are looking for something more "user friendly", I'd recommend accessing my Model UN - Capital Punishment product, which you'll find in my TpT store. I also have a Model UN simulation on Climate Change.
Either way, the format would be a "Model UN" whereby each student represents a different country.
The experience and the learning would be enhanced if you accessed my product on the UN General Assembly and Security Council.
This paper includes extensive information on the ISSUE OF DRUG TRAFFICKING IN COCAINE worldwide, but what it does, that most Background Papers don't do, is to give the student some basic info regarding 50 different countries' policies on the issue.
It can be used as a stand alone activity without student research, however I would recommend each student research their countries current drug policies and issues as this paper was written in 2011.
Additionally, the package includes three fictitious UN resolutions on Drug Trafficking which can be used to focus and enhance the debate. See the preview. I added Rules of Procedure and a description of the process for MUN rookies
