Activity: Louise's Pantry

This resource is a collaborative math problem-solving activity for small groups in your classroom that will stimulate children to work collaboratively - and to have fun!

***************************************************************************************************
What is it?

Students use Louise's Pantry's Menu and the clues provided to find out how much money four people spent on breakfast each day. Students must utilize and apply their knowledge of money units by working together to solve a set of questions. This activity helps develop students ability to work systematically as they must extract and organize information before they will be able to solve the question cards.

This activity includes:

***A quality student journal that accompanies the students and supports them through the activity. It also has a reflection activity to allow students to reflect on their strengths and weakness in collaboration.

***A set of clue and question cards for the activity

*** A teacher guide, lesson plan, and all resources for conducting the activity

Why should I get it?

NO PREP! This is a tried and tested product I use in my classroom. It moves away from written assessments on paper and develops the students higher order thinking. This is a great assessment tool to see if students can utilize their knowledge on a task they are not used to. My students absolutely love this type of activity. After one or two activities, my students now need no instruction and immediately get to work to combat the problem. It has really improved their collaboration skills, problem-solving skills and their ability to reflect on where they went wrong if they are not successful. I hope you will enjoy the activity too!
