Description
Each resource inside this bundle was handpicked to cover all aspects of the MS-LS1 NGSS (MS-LS1-1 to MS-LS1-8) curriculum. The resources found inside will ensure your students fulfill each requirement of the standard and keep them interested and engaged throughout.
Your purchase also includes a breakdown of the individual standards including what resources should be used to cover each one individually.
Included in your bundle:
- 6 Lessons
- 2 Lab Station Activity
- 2 Digital Scavenger Hunt
- 3 Scientific readings on engaging subjects
- Digital Interactive Notebook Activities
Each lesson includes the lesson (student and teacher versions of the presentation), and a student lesson handout as a document while many also include an auto-graded Exit Ticket so you can check for student understanding.
Google and Distance Learning Ready
- Most lessons include both Office and Google formats for ALL resources. The presentations are in PowerPoint and Google Slides while all documents contain Word and Google Doc versions.
- Your resources are perfect for in-person and distance learning and integrates seamlessly with Google Classroom as I've included a link that will automatically create a copy of the resources and put them directly into your Google Drive with one click.

MS LS1 From Molecules to Organisms: Structures and Processes
MS – LS1:
MS-LS1-1. Conduct an investigation to provide evidence that living things are made of cells; either one cell or many different numbers and types of cells.
- Cells and Organelles - Digital Interactive Notebook
- Cells and the Cell Theory - Lab Station Activity
- Animal and Plant Cells - Lesson
MS-LS1-2. Develop and use a model to describe the function of a cell as a whole and the ways parts of cells contribute to the function.
- Cells and Organelles - Digital Interactive Notebook
- Cells and the Cell Theory - Lab Station Activity
- Animal and Plant Cells - Lesson
MS-LS1-3. Use argument supported by evidence for how the body is a system of interacting subsystems composed of groups of cells.
MS-LS1-4. Use argument based on empirical evidence and scientific reasoning to support an explanation for how characteristic animal behaviors and specialized plant structures affect the probability of successful reproduction of animals and plants respectively.
MS-LS1-5. Construct a scientific explanation based on evidence for how environmental and genetic factors influence the growth of organisms.
- Human Impact on Ecosystems Inquiry Lab Experiment: Ecobottles Lab
- Biotic and Abiotic Population Influences – Lesson
- Invasive Species - Science Reading Article
- Genetically Modified Organisms - Science Reading Article
MS-LS1-6. Construct a scientific explanation based on evidence for the role of photosynthesis in the cycling of matter and flow of energy into and out of organisms.
- Energy Flow in Ecosystems Lesson
- Cellular Respiration and Photosynthesis Lesson
- Cellular Respiration and Photosynthesis – Lab Station Activity
MS-LS1-7. Develop a model to describe how food is rearranged through chemical reactions forming new molecules that support growth and/or release energy as this matter moves through an organism.
- Cellular Respiration and Photosynthesis Lesson
- Cellular Respiration and Photosynthesis – Lab Station Activity
- Photosynthesis and Cellular Respiration – Digital Scavenger Hunt Activity
MS-LS1-8. Gather and synthesize information that sensory receptors respond to stimuli by sending messages to the brain for immediate behavior or storage as memories.
******************************
The student version of the presentations contain multiple blanks that need to be filled in throughout the lesson. These blanks are conveniently underlined and bolded on the teacher copy. I have found this to be the most effective means of keeping my students engaged and active without having them write everything out. This also leaves more time for discussion and activities.
I also have a range of assignments and lessons/units from other grade levels at my store. Please CLICK HERE to have a look around and don’t forget to follow if you like what you see.
