Each printable book includes comprehension questions that scaffold learning by including questions that focus on various “orders of thinking” (Bloom’s Taxonomy). This includes, but is not limited to, defining vocabulary words, recalling details, predicting what might happen next, comparing/contrasting, examining what could have been, and making personal connections. Each of the listed focus questions may not be included in every Magic Treehouse packet. However, each chapter will have at least three comprehension questions or activities that are simple enough to complete during a guided reading period, literature circle, independent reading, or read aloud.
Each packet also includes several extension activities for students who finish early or those who just enjoy an additional challenge. Examples of extension activities include word searches, crossword puzzles, vocabulary review, cryptograms, etc.
This low prep printable packet simply needs to be printed, cut in half and stapled into a booklet. It can be implemented during independent, small or large group reading instruction. Each packet has a printable teacher’s booklet which includes an answer key with page numbers.
