Product Description
My math lessons focus on student engagement and participation. I focus on developing conceptual understanding using manipulatives, specific language and activities.  My lesson plans also include differientiated tasks that cater to the varying levels in the classroom.

Goals:

1) To use the integer chips to model multiplication of integers
2) To discover and understand the “rules” or generalizations for multiplying integers

Although this model is a bit contrived, it can help students to understand why two negative numbers have a positive product, which is really the most challenging concept to understand. The purpose of the lesson is for students to discover the patterns for themselves and this model can be helpful for some students in doing this.
