Description

My math lessons focus on student engagement and participation. I focus on developing conceptual understanding using manipulatives, specific language and activities.  My lesson plans also include differientiated tasks that cater to the varying levels in the classroom.

Goals:

1) To understand how to use an area model to represent and solve multiplication questions
2) To understand the connection between area and multiplication

In order for students to see the relevancy of mathematics, they must see where it is applicable. The area model is one way to show the relevancy of multiplication. It can also be used to solve decimal multiplication, mixed number multiplication and binomial multiplication in high school.
