MUSIC: Instruments of the Orchestra with Super Six Reading Strategies
This unit of work I teach as my second topic for my Year 7 classes. This resource takes students on a journey through the Instruments of the Orchestra.
Each lesson in the unit of work includes Super Six Reading strategies - Making Connections, Predicting, Monitoring, Visualising, Summarising and Questioning. There are guided listening activities and PEEL paragraph writing activities based on the music selected for study. The unit also includes the assessment that I use with my own students - Make an Instrument. The assessment includes all handouts and marking criterias and marking sheets. There are even extension activities for your gifted and talented students!
In the resource each page is deliberately doubled, there is a coloured IWB version and a printable version. I link my music samples into the PDF so I don't have to go looking for the Music!
