My Daily Bell Ringers or as I call them, My LaGumbos
They have always been known as my LaGumbos due to the fact that they are just a bit of anything or everything or Lagniappe. I never grade them hard, they have always been worth just one point. Now, one point does not sound like a lot but during the course of a grading period they can add up.
I grade them on "if you get them all right you get the point, miss any single question, I toss it in the trash" harsh I know but they know they can get all questions right if they just think about them. Absent a day – no big deal.
Every day it is something from Louisiana history, - it may be food, music, history, plantations, historical figures, government, maps, regional items, anything that we will cover sometime this year. You just never know what the questions will be.
I print out sheets, cut them in thirds, and 'bulldog clip them together' then hand them out at the door each day. You got to be ON TIME if you want one, LATE and you get nothing. Then you have 5 minutes to answer the questions before I take them up. If I have time, we cover them, if not we cover them at the end of the hour.
