This is a Unit Planner for IB schools with the MYP program. It is built for a 9 week unit, and can include multiple team sports. Basketball terms are emphasized within, but the unit is broad enough to cover the required Skilled Movement terms for various team sports in IB.
The emphasis for this Unit is on year 2 (7th grade), but can be tweaked and applied to year 1 (6th) and year 3 (8th)

Evidence of Understanding
Strand A: The students will know and understand the necessary terms and skills related to specific team sports. This knowledge will allow them to carry out their necessary role and physical skills to enhance the overall relationship and success of the team.
Strand C: Students will need to understand their specific role within the team. Students will demonstrate and apply positional skills and techniques specific to their role within a team. Students will also need to demonstrate and apply positional strategies and movement concepts based on their role and the needs of the team within game play. Within game play, students will need to demonstrate their ability to read the game by analyzing the changing game situation and apply skills specific to their role in order to meet the needs of the team and perform effectively.
Strand D: Students will write reflective journals on strategies that can be used to enhance their skills and strategies in team sports to contribute to the relationship of the team as a whole. The students will self and peer assess their performance to analyze how to improve their performance, as well as to build on their interpersonal skills with their team members.
