In this product you will find a thorough write-up in the MYP unit planner format, enrichment resources, an MYP rubric, a PowerPoint that discusses important events leading up to American Revolution with MYP questions embedded in the content that focus on various AOIs, 4 differentiated handouts about why colonists chose to be loyalists or patriots, a pre-reading activity and a post reading activity.I also have an extensive summative assessment that is explained below.
If you are not looking for an MYP unit, you can still use this product and tailor it to your own needs. The summative assessment is applicable for all U.S. history classrooms and is a lot fun. Here is a description of it:
Students will randomly select a colonial scenario. Based on that scenario, they will determine whether or not they would have been a Patriot or a Loyalist. After that is determined, they will describe how several of the acts passed by Parliament would have affected their colonial selves.
Students will then select a classroom appropriate song to represent their character's plight and include a brief explanation as to how this song was a metaphor for their character's plight.
32 colonial characters for students to choose from are included in this product.
