Description
What grades 5-8 student doesn’t love a fun brainteaser mystery to get their brain cells zinging? Two high interest mystery comprehension passages will intrigue your grade Middle School students, and the questions that follow each story will hone their close reading and inference skills. The exploits of Lazy Luke and of Charming Charlee are followed by questions that challenge students to delve into essential parts of their literary toolbox, such as character analysis, author’s purpose, and working out the use of vocabulary and figurative language in context. A variety of formats are used to assess their understanding, including 15 multiple choice questions, 5 mix and match, and 15 true and false questions. The multiple choice questions resemble those asked on many state tests and thus will make fun test prep. Full answer keys are included. Both stories have a paragraph question, a rubric, and a model paragraph response. The resource ends with a page of quickie riddles for students to puzzle over, and a page of jokes whose questions have been separated from their punchlines; students must reunite them. They will have so much fun and so many chuckles that they will not realize they are learning! This resource is part of a 50% off reading comprehension bundle: 50% OFF READING COMPREHENSION BIG BARGAIN BUNDLE
