This is a fun writing project for your students because students love talking (and writing) about their families. It is ideally use after having completed a family unit to practice writing about family members (descriptive adjectives, hair & eye color, age, where they live). You can easily adept it this family album unit to your own needs by providing a list of criteria for your students. This family album can also be used with a substitute. My fifth graders needed one and a half periods of 45 minutes to finish writing about their families.
This family album document has:
1) a cover page.
2) ten pages to write descriptions.
3) ten pages to draw the person they are describing and/or glue a picture.
4) a criteria page that serves as an example for your students.
Print pages 3 through 23 and staple on the left (once at the top left or three times on the left side to make it like a booklet).
Print page 2 for each student or display on the white board. You can also change page 2 if you want your students to also include likes and dislikes.
