Macbeth: Students are often intimidated by Shakespeare’s language, especially at the beginning of a play. I do find, however, that once they gain some confidence, they change their approach and attitude.
I created this slideshow for my students to use at the beginning of our study of Macbeth. I color coded the quotations that I assign for Act I, breaking each quote into smaller chunks, so they don’t get overwhelmed. Once they learned to use this step-by-step process on their own, they were much more confident in their paraphrasing and interpretation of the quotes I gave them for the rest of the play.
These slides (and the key) are completely editable. All you need to do is share the PowerPoint with your students on Google Drive and they can work through the quotations on their own. Then, you can use the key as a slideshow.
