This is a group activity to use after students have finished reading Macbeth. Each small group of students is assigned one of nine big questions about the play. Each group will present a "mini-lecture" (of about 5 minutes) to the rest of the class based on the discussion they had about the assigned question.
Guidance is provided for students to take notes on their initial discussion, include a pertinent quotation from the play, and identify the big takeaways from their discussion.
Teacher instructions and a rubric are included.
Note: This assignment doesn't require students to do a formal presentation, but they are usually motivated to craft well-considered ideas because their peers will be listening to their arguments. It takes students about one 45-minute class period to construct their ideas. If you assign all nine questions, it may take about two 45-minute class periods to get through all the mini-lectures because some groups will run longer or take more time with the class discussion.
