Set-up, instructions, rubric, and worksheets to complete this IN-DEPTH look at Macbeth.
Students can work in groups (2-3+ or solo) to complete various tasks that involve close study for already selected scenes ($.50 download because it is too large to be free. You can find all the scenes needed online. All are noted clearly in the worksheet.) from Macbeth. Focusing on the "theatrical" aspect of the play, students can explore themes, costuming, staging, and motivations for specific characters with directive worksheets. They then annotate a designated scene (There is an example "annotation" PowerPoint for purchase as well.) focusing on HOW characters deliver lines. Finally, students demonstrate their understandings by showcasing small portions.
This is an END OF THE UNIT activity. Some options do involve sketching, but sketching is now mandatory in all aspects for the "non-sketching" driven.
All-in-all, a fun way to truly explore character and the Shakespearean word.
