This 3 page document is an opportunity to insert some additional analysis of the author's development of Macbeth. The first page gives the basics of id, ego, superego. The second page gives 4 quotes from Freud and another critic about the psychoanalysis of Macbeth. In groups, have the students read one of the critical viewpoints, translate what is being said, and draw the connections between the play and Freud's theory on personality. Finish the activity with a writing exercise, that asks the student to write claims/controlling ideas, use evidence from the excerpts, draw connections to Freud's theory, and use evidence from the text. The product does not include answers or rubrics.
