This master packet includes lesson objectives, vocabulary, worksheets, study questions (that are leveled and tiered to the common core standards and expectations), quizzes, teacher notes, online tests, journaling, outline arguments,as well as teacher notes, annotated text, and finally a side-by-side modernized altered text of the most important scene in Shakespeare's play, The Tragedy of Macbeth.
Activities include letter writing, descriptive essay, brochure writing, persuasive techniques, problem solving using SCANS, drawing inferences and conclusions, writing a proposal, thinking maps, multicultural roles, and succession of power.
I haven't taught Advanced Placement English in awhile, however, with my English IV and ESL students, we spend a week on this one scene in Macbeth in lieu of reading and studying the entire play. In that time, I find the interest in the themes and conflicts high in my classroom and I can teach many of the skills in our curriculum with these 82 lines from the tragedy. I highly recommend this unit to any teacher young or old.
