A reader's notebook for Macbeth--a place for your students to reflect and respond as they read--with minimal cutting and pasting!
I love the idea of readers’ notebooks--they are powerful tools for critical thinking as students read. But I also know that I am often pressed for time and, therefore, can't devote much of it to the cutting and pasting of interactive journals--as fun as that might be! So, I created this notebook. It is one that can take the students beyond chapter questions and allow them to explore their own questions, thoughts and theories about the text. It requires them to be more independent as they explore Shakespeare's ideas and purpose in writing.
Students will take notes as they read, and then use their notebooks for group and class discussions, Socratic seminars and for any assessments you choose to give them. You can pick and choose from among the pages to suit the areas you would like to cover. I have also included an editable template, should you like to add some pages. Pages include ones that track all of the major characters, contrasts between characters and major themes, symbols and motifs. There are also pages to record and analyze important quotations.
