This 1-page document is a useful and creative way to get students thinking critically about the writing style of Shakespeare, the use of controlling ideas/thesis statements and quotations in writing, and the organization of ideas in writing. A great NYS Regents Exam test prep, this activity is designed to be long-term and used while the students are reading the play. It includes the directions and exemplar, which can be used for class discussion and a lesson on how to outline/write the paragraphs. Students will need to use their writing skills and thinking skills in a new and challenging way. Allow your students to be creative and attempt something different with their analysis of the text. Give them the opportunity to do a little research or take the project to a different level than they are used to. This activity will cultivate a new-found interest in reading and writing. Please note that this is a 1-page activity, and that it is merely a set of directions and an exemplar. The exemplar includes student note space to be used if you decide to turn the activity into a lesson on outlining/writing the journal. The activity IS NOT a how to write a journal entry, controlling idea/thesis, or quote writing or analysis. This activity IS NOT a lesson, but merely the directions that can become something very useful and exciting in your classroom. The teacher who buys this needs to be able to teach journal/paragraph, controlling idea/thesis, and quotation writing and analysis. Thank you for your interest.
