Product Description

These print-and-use lesson worksheets are part of my teaching unit for Shakespeare’s Macbeth. They focus specifically on Act 5, Scenes 7-8, with a particular focus on the final climax of the play, in which Macduff and Macbeth fight to the death and order is again restored to Scotland. The imagery of bear baiting is explored in more detail, as it is central to a full appreciation of the final scenes of the play. The worksheets include:

  1. Comprehension Questions for Act 5, Scenes 5-6 of Macbeth
  2. Shakespeare in Context: Short information text about contemporary bear baiting and how it relates to the play.
  3. MODEL ANSWERS for all the questions + activities as well as a teacher’s guide and further in-depth analysis and commentary of Act 5, Scenes 7-8 to guide your teaching of the end of the play.

This worksheet, as indeed all of my Macbeth handouts and activities are specifically designed to be read at IGCSE level or in preparation for the IGCSE English Literature exams. But they can be used independent of these exams and the IGCSE curriculum, too, of course!

The level is certainly also high enough to be used if you have made Macbeth one of the set texts for your IB English A: Literature or English A: Langauge & Literature course.

Enjoy, and please leave feedback!
