This bundled product contains four files:
(1) a traditional, 55-question multiple-choice exam covering all five acts
(2) a take-home essay prompt with scoring guide
(3) a PowerPoint presentation that provides a preview of the exam as well as a small group, collaborative review activity for students
(4) a PowerPoint presentation designed to help students meet the requirements of the essay prompt, including a sample thesis, topic sentences for body paragraphs, and a complete body paragraph.
The exam is heavily text-dependent. For the first two sections, students will need to be able to comprehend Shakespeare's language and understand the basic plot and characters within the play. The first section asks students to correctly identify the character speaking the line, while the second section requires students to choose the missing word from a famous or significant quote. The last section asks detail-oriented questions with an emphasis on proper nouns (including the names of characters, settings, and titles).
The essay requires students to draw connections between Macbeth's character and another character or individual from beyond the play. It also demands the use of MLA format and direct evidence from the play. A scoring guide is included.
If you are also interested in purchasing a bundle of individual quizzes for each of the five acts in the play, it can be found at the following link: Macbeth Act Quizzes (I-V)
